Hello, I'm Smita Rajesh.
I am campaigning to be the next MP for North West Essex and I am asking for your help to raise £10,000 towards the costs of my campaign.
Why am I standing?
I am standing for the Liberal Democrats because I want to make a difference in our community. The people of North West Essex have been ignored and taken for granted for too long.
We need an MP who genuinely cares for, and stands up for the constituency; who fights for our NHS; who protects our environment and cleans up our rivers; who tackles rising food prices and energy bills; and who ensures we have the infrastructure we need for our growing communities.
Local residents deserve an MP who listens to them, who understands their concerns and priorities and who will be their voice in Parliament.
Why can I win?
Right now, voters across the country are turning away from the Conservatives in their droves and only the Liberal Democrats can beat them in North West Essex.
After coming second here in the last General Election, we have gone from strength to strength. We have gained 4 new councillors across the constituency in both Uttlesford and Chelmsford City Councils, while Labour has no councillors in the whole constituency.
Having spoken to a number of local voters in the constituency since the start of the year, we know that the Conservative vote is collapsing, and people are ready to put their trust in the Lib Dems.
How you can help
Elections are expensive and, unlike the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats don’t have millionaire donors supporting us, so I need to build my campaign funds from generous members of the voting public who share my values and my hopes.
We have been actively door knocking in the area, and have delivered the first round of leaflets across the constituency this year, with 2 more in the pipeline. It’s vital that we keep the momentum up between now and the General Election.
Specifically, I want to raise £10,000 to cover the costs of our constituency-wide literature campaign in the run up to the General Election. This would include leaflets featuring my story and a rundown of what I hope to achieve as your MP.
More about me
I have lived on the border of the constituency in Chelmsford since 2010, where I live with my husband and two children. North West Essex is a beautiful, well-connected and diverse part of the country and I am privileged to have the opportunity to represent such a wonderful area.
Professionally, I have worked in recruitment and training but have spent the last fifteen years serving the community through a variety of endeavours. At present, I am a Chelmsford City Councillor, a school Governor, a University Associate Chaplain and a charity trustee. I pledge to bring much needed trust and integrity back into politics.
I am sure you will agree that things can’t continue as they are. With your help, we will ignite change in our constituency.
