The restart of Smarties SEND Play & Support Group

Aim: To restart Smarties SEND Play & Support Group and allow parents and carers the freedom to allow their children to play and relax.
- Smarties SEND Play & Support Group started as Little Smarties in 2014 with an aim to allow children with Autism to engage with other children. Since then we decided a change was needed and we needed to expand from just being a group for children with Autism, but a group for all Special Educational Needs and Disabilities for ages 0-16.
In 2020 the group had to shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown and the group hasn't started since, and as a result has lost a substantial loss of money as we have had to pay bank fees and also for storage, as in 2022 we had to move from our old premises and place all of our belongings into storage.
Our aim is to help fundraise for the group and recoup some of the money lost to ensure that Smarties can return in a strong capacity. We believe that St. Helens, and Merseyside in general, needs more group availability for children with SEND and we want to help alongside other SEND groups in the county.
