Skye Cats is a volunteer-run community group working to share information and promote cat welfare on the Isle of Skye. All funds raised go directly to helping cats on Skye, mostly to run a cat neutering scheme for semi-feral colony cats and their kittens.
Skye Cats supports people in the community who need to home or trap cats. People will individually assess trapped cats and usually either the landowner will continue care-taking them once they're neutered or they might go to a home as a working barn cat or as a pet cat. The neutering costs for a single cat are usually between £60-£100 (including a flea treatment), so every £ raised makes a huge difference to the quality of life of cats on Skye.
Unneutered cat communities can have serious health issues (breeding continually and competing for resources) and unmanaged populations harm wildlife, fight with domestic cats and can spread disease. The single step of neutering a cat can change its life for the better and volunteers working with Skye Cats also commonly adopt cats that can manage - or would love - an indoor life.
Skye Cats is a community group that launched this year and is already making a difference, but we need to fundraise to get our neutering programme properly up and running. There is currently no other cat welfare group working specifically on Skye.
The prize draw will take place on Saturday 2 August 2025 at Skye Agricultural Show in Portree. All winners will be contacted and can collect prizes within 14 days of the draw. Terms and conditions apply.
Thank you so much for donating to Skye Cats.
