We're still collecting donations
On the 29th May 2020 we'd raised £580 with 19 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
With your support I can look forward to the future after Covid-19. I'm offering a pay forward facility for you or a key worker to enjoy.

Why I'm doing this?
With your support I can look forward to the future after Covid-19. I’m funding to restart my business, by offering this pre-payment facility #payitforward. Not only is it for you to make a purchase from my business and redeem as soon I open, I'm also offering you an option to donate your pledge to reward a key worker during their visit to Skegness to make a difference to their day.
Skegness
Seasonal businesses like mine are a vital part of the coastal economy, providing a fantastic service to our very welcome tourists. Most businesses like mine operate from March through to October. The weather has a massive impact on the tourist trade which we usually plan for however the current lock-down situation is nothing anybody could have ever envisaged.
Why this is important to me
This Easter, there was great weather. In "normal times", the beaches would have been packed and the Pleasure Beach buzzing. During what would have been a very busy period, I would have secured my first rent payment and staff wages to take me through the quiet period until the next bank holiday. I was devastated, as everyone was and still is, when the lock down was announced. I do not qualify for any Government grants, nor do I qualify for the self-employed income scheme coming to terms with this has been difficult. The funding I want to raise is to support my re-opening, with the purchasing of new stock, hire and train staff and to pay my outstanding invoices which are due to other local businesses.
About me
I have lived in Skegness for over 20 years and I was born and grew up in Worksop. I have been employed up to February 2020 and previously worked on many projects helping unemployed and disadvantaged people find work or self-employment. I have been made redundant 4 times over the last 10 years so this year I decided it was my time to take up an opportunity in starting my own business. It has been an exciting time, sourcing equipment, furniture and planning the menus.
What can you do
For every penny you pledge, you will receive a voucher equivalent to that amount which will be presented to you on the day you visit. I understand a lot of my friends, contacts and colleagues will not be visiting Skegness this year, or if you wish, you can choose to pledge a donation to a key worker who visits my diner. Key workers will identify themselves, they will be rewarded with your pledge and a photo uploaded to my Skeg Vegas Diner Face book page where you can see your contribution to "making a difference to their day".
What I'm doing now
I should now be working everyday, meeting and greeting people, serving food and drinks ...doing what I do best. I'm also actively seeking temporary employment during the lock down to provide me with an income.
How is this all possible?
Crowdfunder are offering up their platform to allow all UK small businesses to pre-sell their meals, events, hotel bookings etc. for cash now on a promise to redeem these at a later date, I'm grateful to be offered this free facility.
We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see Crowdfunder's Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
