I’m a single mother to a bright 10-year-old child. For the past decade, I’ve navigated the complex realities of single parenthood—often in isolation. Through this experience, I’ve come to realise how deeply needed a community of like-minded single parents is: a space to connect, share, and thrive together.

As a single parent, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to maintain friendships with couples or participate in family-oriented events. Without a partner, moments that are typically shared can feel like reminders of what’s missing. This sense of exclusion affects not just me—but my daughter as well.

Childcare has been one of my biggest challenges. There was a time when I worked only to pay for it. But what if we could create a system where single parents in the same area could share childcare responsibilities and reduce costs together—while building meaningful bonds?

Holidays present another hurdle. Coordinating time off with extended family isn’t always possible, and traditional family packages often exclude single parents—emotionally and financially. I’ve asked myself: how can I create unforgettable memories for my daughter, without bearing the entire cost or experience alone?

Adding a young dog to our family has brought even more complexity. Dog walkers, sitters, and boarding are expensive—and dogs don’t trust just anyone. But what if I could exchange pet care with fellow dog-owning single parents in my community—people our pets know and feel safe with?

Beyond logistics, there's a deeper need for connection. What if our community could gather for wellness activities—walks, fitness, art, shared meals—to build trust and genuine relationships? Shared experiences can lay the foundation for mutual support—whether it’s childcare, holidays, or simply lending an ear.

The world has changed. Family structures are evolving, and many of us have been left behind by circumstances or choices. But the ones who quietly suffer most are our children—when their caregivers are unsupported.

Let’s change that.

Let’s create a network where single parents uplift each other—not just out of necessity, but through real community, shared values, and mutual empowerment.
