We are extremely proud to be able to offer people the chance to vote for our excellent Green Party candidate, Julian Dean. But, as a grassroots party, we can't rely on rich individuals and big business donations to clear the path to democracy for us.
Due to the election being called at very short notice, we haven't been able to save up for this election as we would have liked, so need to raise money urgently.
We are looking to raise £500. This money will go towards getting Julian on the ballot paper and then spreading the word about the Green message through leafletting, hustings, social media adverts and events.
Please donate today!
If 10 people give £50, that will pay our deposit!
- Also by helping Julian to stand, your donation enables all the votes he receives to translate into government funding for the Green MPs elected elsewhere
- If Julian retains his deposit, and we are confident he can, those funds come back and can be spent by the Green Party again, so we can keep building strength both locally and nationally
Our members have already been working extremely hard to pick up the bulk of our costs but we do need that final push from all those supporters and activists out there who believe in equality not poverty, public services (including the NHS) coming into public hands and the need to take urgent action to tackle the Climate Emergency. Here's Julian's election statement:
"The Tory government leaves public services in meltdown, its plans for net zero in crisis and Britain failing on the international stage. They offer a future of division and cruelty - an offer I confidently expect the country to reject" said Julian.
"Future generations need hope and change; affordable homes, better health care and massive investment to tackle the climate crisis. We also need leaders who will stand by those in our communities who are being unjustly targeted, from refugees to trans people."
Julian stated that Labour is likely to form the next government, but need to be pushed to do better. "A huge Green vote, and a strong group of Green MPs is needed now more than ever. Labour has already U-turned on climate investment, on nationalising the water companies and on lifting the child benefit cap which keeps many in our community in poverty. It has ducked the tough issues like stopping selling arms to the extremist government in Israel. Labour continues to be a party of 'business as usual'. A vote for the Green Party is the best way to push for real hope and real change."
Julian also emphasised the strength of the Green Party this time round. "In the last two years Greens have increased our share of elected councillors by more than any other party. For the first time ever we will be standing candidates in every constituency in England and Wales. Hundreds of people joined us within minutes of the election being called" he added.
P.S. Because we're a political party
We're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website.
