We're still collecting donations

I played concerts around the world. At one in South Korea, I shared the stage with performers from Thailland, Taiwan, Mongolia and Sri Lanka. This atmosphere was so good, that when I returned to London I started the World Culture Association and held events to celebrate diversity through dance, music, art, poetry and speech and highlight human rights causes. Through this I made friends who were helping people where they live and needing assistance. The situations are extreme in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, where wars of greed and de-stabilisation are still causing untold problems. Bienvenu, now the WCA representative, together with some friends was rescuing young children from the bush and the streets. Their parents had been killed or forcibly re-located and they organised a temporary shelter for them. So far over 200 small children have been saved and moved to families in the community wherever possible, or orphanages when that couldn't be done. They are keeping contact with them. They also wanted to help the women victims of rape who are destitute and homeless, having been cast out from their communities. So they raised funds for trainers and sewing machines, so that they can train to make their own small businesses. At this point we made this a WCA project to help them. So far over 100 of these women have graduated and we would like to help many more to help themselves. Even though WCA is very small, these volunteers are happy to have an identity, in which they can work in and organise. We are in the middle of the process to partner WCA officially. In any case, the spirit of this partnership has been running for nearly 4 years and I have known some of these volunteers for over 7 years.
I also made friends in East Timor, Indonesia, where the community is trying to rebuild after terrible floods. Some local food distribution has been done.
A friend in Palawan, Philippines is working for a small charity there to stand up for indigenous people's land rights. She asked us to help with some money for her relative's tribe the Palaw'an, to buy seeds for planting and chickens for 54 families, which we did. The Shine Your Light appeal will enable them to buy tools and materials to make traditional handicrafts, so they can sell them and take another step to self-sufficiency.
This appeal will be shared with these 3 projects, to position us for a meaningful and hopeful New Year 2022!
