Shine Like Stars is a not-for-profit theatre company. Our aim is to inspire emerging young theatre artists and provide an outlet where they can creatively express themselves, grow in their abilities and help them reach their full potential. We work with small casts to ensure that everyone gets plenty of performance time and no one is left out. There’s no small parts and everyone has a lot of work to do - but the good news is, it’s work everyone has a lot of fun doing!
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, live theatre performances have come to a halt. Shine Like Stars have tackled this with our talented cast by producing our first feature film: Showtime 2.5 The Show Must Go Online, created over four months and filmed through socially distanced rehearsals and over Zoom.
As a not-for-profit company, most of the money we get for productions comes from ticket sales from our live shows. Without a show this year, we are facing a significant financial loss. We don’t want to charge for viewing of Showtime 2.5, so in order to fund our next project (launching in January), we are hosting a CrowdFunder and donations would be greatly appreciated. This will help us to continue to produce shows and films in 2021, for both our cast and audiences.
All money raised will help cover the costs of equipment which are vital for our youth theatre to continue; from staging rigs and lighting to rehearsal hall hire and backdrops. We are very fortunate to have a variety of stunning costumes which we have bought over the years, but we often need specific pieces of costume and props for each production, and therefore they cannot always be recycled.
We believe these last few months, and in particular this film, stand as a showcase for just how talented and professional our young thespians are and we are so excited to delve into our next project with them!
