Aim: Women-run podcast in Leicester getting real about business, sharing wins, struggles, and talking about the stuff no one else will!
Hey I’m Aimee, a creative, podcast host, ADHD-er, and a mum who’s spent the last few years trying to juggle business, mental health, and motherhood. After leaving a demanding corporate job, I started an interior design business hoping to find freedom and fulfilment. What I found instead was burnout, overwhelm, and a deep craving for real connection.
That’s what led me to launch She Means Business Leicester, a podcast and community platform that gives women in business a space to share their stories honestly, without filters or pressure. I wanted to talk about the messy middle: the mental load, the doubts, the late diagnoses, the confidence wobbles and the magic that happens when we realise we’re not alone.
The polished pictures we see on social media rarely tell the full story. I believe there’s real power in being honest about the challenges we’ve faced. For anyone who is struggling right now, this podcast is for you!
Joining me on this beautiful (and slightly chaotic) adventure is Emily who first reached out to me on Instagram earlier this year with the kindest message, asking if I needed help with the podcast. At the time, I was completely overwhelmed, trying to manage everything on my own and then along came Emily, like a little beam of light just when I needed it most. She’s been such a calm, creative force behind the scenes ever since, and I genuinely couldn’t do this without her.
Since launching, I’ve funded the podcast myself, paying for equipment, editing, and event costs, while working for myself still. The DREAM is to do the podcast full-time but I also realise I need to be realistic....
So my aim is to raise £4000.00 which will fund 10 new podcasts, allow us to invest in better quality cameras, and pay my producer Emily fairly and sustainably.
Right now, the podcast is completely free for people who want to come on. I host a mix of 1-to-1 interviews and group sessions with incredible women from all kinds of industries. We've already covered topics like International Women’s Day, and we’re about to dive into mental health in business something close to my heart.
What makes this special is the real connection. I’ve gotten to know many of these women on a deeper level, and I spend much of my free time supporting their businesses, showing up at their events, and cheering them on behind the scenes.
