Aim: These are exciting times as Sensory People fundraise for specialist equipment for our new Midlands Therapy Centre.

Do you know a child who is

  • struggling at school,
  • can’t sit still or listen,
  • has poor communication skills
  • struggling to regulate their behaviour and emotions.

Some of the children who join us are unable to leave the home, have heightened anxiety, cannot make friends easily or enjoy their young life.  Their parents/guardians are often at a loss as to how to support them.

Sensory People Charity was set up in 2015 in Stourbridge to help families and offer early intervention for children and young people up to the age of circa 15 years using Ayres Sensory Integration Therapy.

‘Sensory People Charity has been life changing for my Son and in turn, our family in every conceivable way. Attending Cool Kids and Sensory
Integration Therapy has improved F's behaviour, co-ordination, independent
life skills, social skills and academic progress. The family support evenings
have provided valuable respite, restoring my energy and patience to continue
 to support my son.’

Crowdfunding!

We are very excited to be fundraising to purchase equipment for our new Midlands Sensory IntegrationTherapy Centre currently being refurbished under the expert eye of Intervention Architecture, Birmingham. The building was secured through a generous legacy gifted to the charity in 2023 for this very purpose and has been redesigned by our clinicians and the architects.

Sensory Integration Therapy equipment is vital for the successful treatment of our children, giving them the opportunity to develop their neural pathways in a protected space. Equipment is large and expensive! It is essential if children are to experience the movement they need and for them to be taken on a child-led journey towards a better understanding of their sensory needs.

Introducing our Sensory People team!

Our sympathetic and experienced team of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Movement Coaches, has developed a successful programme of support including 1-1 Sensory Integration Therapy, 1-1, group and home visiting Cool Kids Foundation Level Movement Schemes and our developing Nursery Cool Kids Programme.  Our Charity Founder and lead therapist Marion Rogerson offers a monthly Information Evening for new enquiries which offers a vital first step for parents. The charity supports parents with regular ‘parent get-togethers’ around a creative, seasonal activity.
