-Provide a safe space to learn. -Opportunity to develop life and social skills -Foster a community and support network for SEND families.

With Special Educational needs children myself, this project is profound for me. Far too many children are without suitable provision that meets their needs. SEND QUEST is there to help those children and their families through what is a very difficult and stressful time.  Home educating SEND children, whether through choice or through necessity, is not easy, and some people need some extra support.

Any help you can give is appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to have a look at what we do.

Best wishes

*******************

SEND QUEST is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a minimal cost learning and social club for families with SEND primary age children (years 1-6), who are home educated or who are registered within the education system however are awaiting a suitable placement or may be transitioning from one special provision to another.

The club is supported by volunteers who work alongside Charlotte (founder) in order to ensure the children's experience is as well rounded and meaningful as possible.

*To work closely with families in the local area in order to provide a safe learning and social space for Special Educational Needs primary age children.

*There are many children without suitable provision at this time those who are in limbo waiting to transition into a different placement or waiting to enter into SEND provision for the first time. SEND QUEST will provide an opportunity for those children to maintain or gain social skills, life skills, and encourage learning during this difficult time.

*To provide a support network for both children and parents.

*To introduce, encourage and nurture pier support and lasting friendships among the children.

Through necessity I had to home educate our daughter however I found that there really wasn't enough within the community for SEND children. If I did find something there wasn't the level of structure I wanted, knowledge or balance of activities that would allow for autonomy and the development of core skills.

Whilst home education doesn't have to be implemented in the same way as traditional schooling is, it is down to individual preference. I personally feel that there still needs to be an element of structure. Children rely on this to learn to navigate their day and manage their time among many other skills. From there with guidance and consistency they learn a level of independence. This includes those with special educational needs. I wanted a group that allowed the children to make friends in their own unique way and be supported by parents or carers, to actively foster those friendships. I want the children to feel comfortable enough to make mistakes without pressures or expectations placed upon them. To indulge their imaginations and have the opportunity to explore new things.

Ultimately I would love for them to understand and enjoy the sense of achievement and pride that all SEND children are capable of.

SEND QUEST is a home education learning club for SEND based in Sittingbourne and at this time is run on a voluntary basis.  All staff are DBS checked.

SEND QUEST aims to facilitate enjoyable enrichment and learning based activities that encourage the children to engage.

SEND QUEST is about friendship.

SEND QUEST may meet in a variety of places to enhance life skills and provide broadened learning opportunities and to encourage independence. Parent/carer will be required to attend.

SEND QUEST celebrates the children's birthdays.
