Always on

This project successfully funded on 26th January 2024, you can still support them with a donation.

Aim: We are looking to recruit and train 2 SEN support roles to work with the children, providing them opportunities to further learn & grow.

Karen and I visited Nayamba in Nov 2023.

Karen, as a SEN Specialist, worked with a group of children to identify their needs and provide ideas for their support. Teachers attended training sessions with Karen.

The leadership team identified that having trained staff to support this group of children would be a great next step!

In Zambia - Children with SEN are not supported in the same way as children are in the UK.

We truly believe that having some trained SEN support in the classrooms will not only benefit the children with SEN, but also support the class teacher to be able to teach all the students to the best of their ability.

As a result, we have created a small campaign group who will be solely focussed on supporting the recruitment, training and development of SEN roles. There is an SEN Lead at the school, Precious, who will head this up. Karen and others will be supporting from the UK via Zoom training sessions and SEN assessment meetings.

How can you help?

In order to get this off the ground we need to secure the funding for 2 years to recruit 2 x SEN staff members. The vision is to recruit younger people, who perhaps have recently left the school, and offer them a traineeship role where they can learn and develop. This could also act as a stepping stone into teaching training further down the line, ensuring Nayamba has a pipeline of teachers who are part of the Nayamba vision.

Amazingly - to recruit and pay 2 x SEN roles, it will cost just £100 a month!

We are working on an initial 2 year plan, therefore our total target is £2400

You can contribute in 2 ways:

A monthly amount - ideally to run for a minimum of 12 months

Or

A lump sum towards the overall target

In return - you will be part of this small group who will receive regular updates about the progress of this SEN Project. You will get to meet both the staff and the children involved, and see how they are progressing.

Please click the video below to meet one of the students who benefited from some SEN specific learning. As context - This child does not speak much and is rarely able to articulate his needs - I simply love what both this book and the expert approach did for him!

More Bubbles!

We are truly grateful for any support you can provide and if you have any questions please do get in touch,
