Over the last couple of years and on an occasion during lockdown Redcar Athletic has had to deal with damage to their pitches caused by vehicles including a car and motorbikes entering the football pitches.
We have even had Horse & Carriages!!.
We have invested heavily in our pitches through funding from the Football Foundation to ensure that our members can play on the best pitches possible.
The damage caused has meant that money has had to be spent repairing the damage and this has come at a particularly bad time for the club when our income is down because of the Coronaviris pandemic.
We have over 300 young members aged 3-18 years old who use our football pitches as well as several community groups. Offering a safe facility where children can come and enjoy participating in sport .
By participating in football young people receive many health benefits, football provides an opportunity for them to be active and enjoy a healthy lifestyle but it also offers much more such as boosting confidence, decreasing stress and promotes concentration.
Redcar Athletic Football Club want to continue to provide a first class facility and ensure that our members can play football in a safe environment thats why we feel that the time is now right to fence in our pitches with a perimeter fence. This will ensure that our members can participate in football safely and that the pitches will be protected.
The total cost of the project is £40000 and whilst we should be able to access grant funding for a proportion of the total cost we will still need to raise a substantial amount of money.
