Aim: To reduce our carbon emissions our club would like to change our metal halide floodlights to LEDs.
We are a small, friendly tennis club situated in Sutton, Surrey. We are committed to transitioning towards more sustainable practices
We play all year round on our 7 tennis courts, with various weekly club sessions, regular internal tournaments and leagues, and several teams in the LTA Surrey leagues.
We always welcome enquiries from anyone interested in joining - be they experienced club players, social players, adult beginners, rusties (i.e. people who haven't played in years), juniors or veterans. We exist purely for the fun of playing tennis and are not for profit making organisation. All subscriptions are used for the running and maintenance of the club and for providing free coaching opportunities to new members.
Membership of the Club is open to everyone, regardless of creed, colour, sexual orientation, or ethnic background.
We operate on a TENNIS FOR ALL policy and are well known for our unique relaxed, non-stuffy atmosphere and do not enforce any white clothing rules etc.
Sutton Churches Tennis Club is committed to reducing its carbon emissions and has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2050.
We will spend the money on replacing our existing floodlights with LEDs.
Our tennis club is a grass-roots tennis club run by volunteers and is a community hub where we have schools use our courts as well as run tennis programmes in local schools and also have links to many groups. The club is also a leading venue in the Pledgeball scheme where we encourage our players to make small changes in their everyday lives to have a bigger impact collectively on the local environment. With 400 members, excluding the children and local groups like Beavers and Brownies that visit, we have been identified as having a wide impact in this area.
