Scout Hut Repairs and Renovations

We are a passionate group of volunteers leading Scout activities in our local community. We believe scouting is for all and support young people from all backgrounds to learn valuable skills for life, make friends and become well rounded individuals.
We need a building that supports us with our aims by providing a warm, welcoming and climate friendly space which allows young people to focus on having fun with the activities we provide.
The building is a community asset being hired (to fundraise for scouts) by art groups, birthday parties and exercise classes. We hope with these changes we can limit impact on hire charges and continue to provide a wonderful space for our community. We aim to make the building more self sustaining with hire bookings continuing to fund ongoing repairs but a reasonable rate for those members of the community who need our space.
The project involves levelling the roof in preparation for solar installation, repairing rotten sections of the roof, redoing the flat roof, removing skylight panels from the roof and replacing with glazed windows in the wall to allow for roof insulation and use of natural daylight still, installation of LED lighting, installation of new internal doors to meet fire regulations but also provide better heat retention when rooms are in use and enable sleepovers in the hut for scouting activities.
