Scotia Medical Group

RCN SC050096, Elgin

Scotia Medical Group (SCIO) was founded in May 2020, as a registered Scottish charity, by a small group of friends with a passion for teaching and saving lives. Scotia Medical Group has been set up with three main objectives: 1) Saving lives through free first aid training to community groups. This will provide a network of trained people who have the confidence, training and skills to save someone’s life. We will offer the basic training needed to recognise a life threatening condition and the skills needed to attempt to save someone’s life. This is offered through various accredited courses such as: emergency first aid and first aid at work with the intention to deliver more advanced courses in the future. 2)Event First Aid. In order to be sustainable and give the community a chance to access experience in pre-hospital medicine; we provide medical cover for events. This also in turns helps reduce patient numbers to struggling A&E departments and allows local economies to benefit from events. By charging a small amount it helps Scotia Medical Group achieve aims 1&3. 3)Community Resilience. Scotia Medical Group will be able to provide assistance which will benefit communities at times of emergency or extreme pressures where our assets could be used to promote the saving and preservation of life. This will be in partnership with other organisations and statutory agencies. We are based in Elgin and therefore primarily cover the county of Moray, however due to ever expanding needs of the North of Scotland, it is our aim to help where best across the North. We are lucky to have a highly dedicated team of 40 volunteers who regularly undertake training and carry out the work of Scotia Medical Group. We are a volunteer led organisation and therefore we have volunteers in key leadership roles to progress the charity with its values in mind.

Scotia Medical Group

Scotia Medical Group is looking to purchase an ambulance to help the Moray Community on two fronts:

1) We'd like to provide a stretcher based ambulance with the capability to move patients to home or further repatriation.

2) We'd like to expand our event capacity to provide and A&E ambulance allowing for further economy to Moray.

By offering this service we aim to achieve the following:

  • Build a reliable and trustworthy service that members of the local community and healthboard can rely on to help on a regular basis, that will adapt to meet the needs of the Moray Community.
  • It will help sustain a regular flow of patients allowing more access to primary and secondary care for the people of Moray.
  • It will allow Scotia Medical Group to become a regular and notable charity to help the community of Moray and helps achieve the charity’s aim of community resilience.
  • It will be our intention to place the Ambulance on the Scottish Fire and Rescues Community Asset Register to offer its services in times of great need.
