Hi, I’m Andy, and I’m a parent, neighbour, and believer in community action. My child’s school is a beautiful building from 1907—but time and budget cuts have left it in poor condition. Cracked concrete, fading paint, and years of wear have taken their toll.
So, I picked up my tools, grabbed some paint, and got to work.
With the blessing of the headteacher, I began repairing the concrete, re-rendering walls, and restoring the school’s exterior bit by bit. My family even joined in—because we believe schools should look as smart as the kids we send to them.
Now, I want to take this further.
We’re almost done with the render and repainting—but the roof is still covered in years of grime. A proper power washer would make a huge difference, not just in looks but in community pride.
🧼 Your donation will help us:
- Rent or purchase a professional pressure washer.
- Cover paint, tools, and maintenance materials.
- Finish restoring our local school’s exterior.
- Launch a grassroots charity—Schools Looking Smart—to help other underfunded schools do the same.
💡 What Happens If We Exceed Our Goal?
If donations exceed our initial target, every extra pound will go straight into building the Schools Looking Smart charity. That means:
- Investing in better tools and materials
- Expanding to help the next school in need
- Renting a small workspace or storage unit
- Eventually, even acquiring a charity vehicle for transporting equipment
Everything we invest in will belong to the charity—not to individuals—and will be used solely to support and grow this community-driven mission. Step one, once the initial goal is met, is to legally register Schools Looking Smart as a UK charity and build from there.
📸 We’ve documented every step of this journey with before-and-after photos, so you can see exactly where your support goes. Here are a couple of examples:
Pic 1: This wall had loose concrete and crumbling render. Step by step, we change it from danger to dignity.
Pic 2: This other wall, that was crumbling and water-damaged is now fully restored and safe—thanks to hands-on care and community effort.
What started as one parent’s decision to care is becoming something much bigger: a movement to show our children that their learning spaces deserve respect, beauty, and love.
Even £5 makes a difference.
Let’s make our schools look smart—together.
