Hi I’m William, I'm 14 and live in Somerset. Over the next 18 months I will be doing multiple fundraising events so I can undertake voluntary community projects for four weeks in Kenya with Camps International. This is an amazing opportunity that I am able to take part in through my school, Preston Accademy.
The money raised goes towards my travel costs and for me to help with a variety of project works when in Kenya. This includes community development work, wildlife conservation, environmental conservation and the chance to learn to Scuba dive. The overall experience last for 4 weeks, and will provide a wealth of self growth opportunities whilst helping within an environment and cultural setting so very different to what I am used to
On this trip I will be involved in projects that will:
- Raise the educational standards of developing communities within a rural district of Kenya
- Raise the living standards of developing communities, within a rural district of Kenya
- Help with ongoing wildlife conservation programmes to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
The main reason I want to go on the trip is to make a difference in the communities out there. The projects that I will be involved with will be part of the community not just for the time that we are there, but for years to come. I am also really looking forward to seeing a culture that is different from my own, meeting lots of new people and learning some new skills.
The total cost of the expedition is £5000. Together with my family, and friends, I hope to also raise money through fundraising events including a Christmas bingo, cake sales and car cleaning. I currently work at Yeovil Rugby Club waiting tables and washing up, and will be saving hard towards this life time experience. I have lots of ideas to raise this money and with the help of my family we are working hard to raise the funds along with your help!
Thank you for taking the time to look at my page. Any donation, no matter how small will be gratefully received
