Beatbox Scotland started off as a social media page to connect beatboxers and anyone interested in the art form. Since it's creation, many beatboxers have made important connections. Together, we teach, and perform the skill.
I remember my first time meeting up with a beatboxer, it was in London, at the 2012 UK Beatbox Championships (little did I know I was about to meet the best people on earth). The people there encouraged my interests, in not only beatboxing, but entertainment in general. I love to meet new people, and generate ideas that will benefit our local communities. Witnessing a beatboxer live, is truly a mind-blowing experience, that's why I love to share it. On a personal level, I want to thank everyone who has helped me evolve, into someone who explores making sounds with the mouth, as I have met great people through this and because of that, I now organize beatbox events that brings top beatboxers to Scotland. Our first championships had 'Beatbox International' Co-Founder, the New Zealand Beatbox Champion and Bigg Taj(Scotlands best beatboxer) judge the competition. Beatboxing in Scotland is an interesting development, because it is relatively new to a lot of people who hear it. We want to focus on building more positive relationships with the people around us, and using beatbox as a tool to deliver this change is something that I take great pride in.
I want to personally thank a couple of charities that I hold close to my heart, Scottish Refugee Council, who work hard to ensure people who have fled horrific circumstances, where conflict and human rights abuses are a daily occurrence, have the best support when they come to Scotland. Music Broth(Scotlands First Music Instrument Library) is another great charity who constantly has given us support over the years, ensuring that we are ready for when these events take place. There is a lot of people/groups/organisations to thank, but I want to keep this short and sweet(I'm doing a good job at that) and to the point.
The creative industries is suffering right now, and beatboxers need your help! We want to raise funds to help creative artists grow, as artists and as people. To continue the great work that we in the creative industries do. Your donations will also help the charities involved in the night, Scottish Refugee Council & Music Broth. When you donate, you will be entered into the prize draw.
