  • Welcome to the Say NO to Football campaign! We are a passionate group of individuals dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers and negative impacts of football. Our mission is to advocate for the complete ban of football, similar to how many have campaigned to ban country pursuits.

Why Ban Football?

1. Harm to Wildlife:

   - Football stadiums and training grounds occupy vast areas of land, often disrupting local ecosystems and displacing wildlife. Stadium construction has been linked to the destruction of natural habitats. For example, the building of Brazil’s **Arena da Amazônia** for the 2014 World Cup led to significant rainforest clearing, threatening local biodiversity.

   2. Environmental Pollution:

   - The waste generated from football games—plastic cups, food wrappers, and other disposables—ends up in landfills and oceans, harming marine life and polluting natural landscapes. On average, football matches can generate between 5 to 8 metric tons of waste per game.

Fans in Europe collectively produce over

750,000 plastic cups and bottles per year, many of which find their way into the environment.

   - Stadium lighting and noise pollution disturb nocturnal animals and birds, leading to disorientation, disrupted migration patterns, and sometimes fatal collisions.

3. Carbon Footprint:

   - The carbon emissions from large crowds traveling to games, powering stadiums, and producing football merchandise are considerable. For example, the **2018 FIFA World Cup** generated **2.16 million metric tons of CO2**, with most emissions coming from travel and stadium energy consumption.

   - Premier League clubs alone emitted 65,000 metric tons of CO2 during the 2019/20 season, largely from matchday travel and stadium operations.

4. Turf and Pesticides:

   - The synthetic turf used on many fields requires toxic chemicals for maintenance. Up to **30-50 gallons of chemicals per acre** are used annually to keep grass pitches in pristine condition, which can seep into nearby soil and water, affecting plants, animals, and even human communities.

   - Microplastics from synthetic turf fields also pose risks to the environment, potentially leaching into water sources and harming wildlife.

Our Goal:

We are raising funds to spread awareness, conduct thorough research on the environmental impacts of football, and advocate for legislation that limits or bans football as it currently stands. With your help, we can protect our planet’s fragile ecosystems, safeguard wildlife, and make the environment a top priority.

How Your Donations Will Help:

Awareness Campaigns: We will fund initiatives to educate the public on how football harms wildlife and the environment.

- **Research**: Your contributions will support studies on the direct environmental impacts of football, including pollution, land use, and wildlife disruptions.

Legal Advocacy:

We will hire environmental lawyers to draft petitions and propose legislation to regulate or ban football in environmentally sensitive areas.

Sustainable Alternatives: Funds will go towards exploring greener alternatives to football.

Together, we can challenge the status quo and advocate for a more sustainable, eco-friendly future. Let’s say NO to football and YES to protecting animals, wildlife, and the environment. Every donation counts, no matter how small.

Let’s create a world where entertainment doesn’t come at the expense of our planet!
