I'm writing on behalf of my cousin (Ramiz Haboub). The following are his words:
Today, from Gaza, I am heavy-heartedly asking for your assistance during this time of urgent need. My name is Ramiz . Years ago, I used to work as a photojournalist in Gaza City, where I portrayed the harsh realities of our existence. Now, I am on a mission of a different kind: securing a safe future for my family amid the chaos and atrocities surrounding us in Gaza.
Amid this destruction, my family of 5 people stands on a mysterious path full of inexplicable difficulties and melancholy. I seek any glimpse of hope as we face one of the most horrific attacks against humanity.
Some particularly painful consequences of the ongoing carnage are the destruction of my home, the theft of all of my private properties and part of the work equipment. For more than 15 years, I've invested all my savings into building this home. Its destruction would mean my family and I have nothing to call our own in this life. Even after the war ends, my family and I will be left homeless, as my parents' and brother's homes have also been destroyed. Furthermore, access to schools is impossible as most of the educational institutions have been completely demolished, leaving the future of my children uncertain.
Family members:
- My wife, Mai, is 33 years old.
- My daughter, Maryam, is 14 years old.
- My son, Adham, is 12 years old.
- My son, Ahmad, is only 4.
The urgency of our situation cannot be emphasised enough. As tensions continue to rise, particularly with the looming threat in Rafah, it is imperative that I swiftly relocate my family to safety. This is not a plea to be taken lightly; it is a desperate call for assistance during our time of utmost need.
Your support will allow us to cover the essential expenses required for our journey to find a secure refuge. It is more than just a monetary contribution; it represents a lifeline, offering us the opportunity for a fresh start away from the constant fear and uncertainty that has plagued our lives for far too long. It is an investment in the future of our children, granting them life, security and the educational opportunities they rightfully deserve.
The expenses we anticipate include:
- Travel fees cost through Ya Hala Travel Agency to facilitate our departure from Gaza.
- Miscellaneous expenses, including accommodation rental, clothing, and basic living costs for a minimum of three months.
This is a heartfelt plea to all those who believe in the power of humanity to enact change. With your assistance, my family will be provided with a future characterised by hope, security, and the chance to rebuild their lives.
Thank you in advance for your prompt support.
