The 'Get Active Ston Easton' Community Trust was set up by a number of local residents to manage the refurbishment of the derelict tennis court and unused play area, and in 2019 these wonderful facilities were opened to the public. The multi-use sports court offers the opportunity to play a variety of sports for all ages, including tennis, netball, basketball and 5-a-side football. It has also proved to be a great place for younger residents to ride a bike, scooter or skateboard.
These facilities, which are adjacent to the Village Hall, are funded and managed as an independent venture, and with no direct income being raised by the facilities, the Trust is hoping that local residents and users of these facilities will donate towards the cost of insurance for the coming year, and in order to fund the overdue maintenance of the sports court (which needs to be cleaned and have the lines repainted).
Without the support of the local community this fantastic community asset is at risk of closing, so we are hopeful that we can fund these costs through the generosity of the families that enjoy using the play area and sports court, or those who are simply keen to help protect the facility for the use of future residents and generations.
