Talk for Health: Save and amplify Talk for Health – FREE, award-winning therapeutic talk for all

Talk for Health has pioneered a sustainable and revolutionary future for mental health since 2014.

Commissioned by the NHS and supported by grant funders, we provide free access to a therapeutic talk programme that is effective, long-lasting and empowering. We teach members of the community therapeutic talking skills and enable them to set up ongoing groups for structured mutual support.  The groups build into a vibrant, connected community across London.

Developed and supervised by accredited Psychotherapists, the programme has positively impacted 2500+ people, proving as effective as Psychotherapy, more cost-effective, and with longer-lasting impact.

Last year, Talk for Health won the UK Mental Health and Wellbeing Award for Long-Term Impact on the strength of rigorous data gathered from 1,000 participants.  It is also the subject of a global study on ‘taking the therapist out of therapy’ by Durham University.

Talk for Health is a life-saving service at a time of desperate shortage. 1 in 4 experience mental distress in the UK, but only 20% of them get NHS therapy. Waiting lists are long, treatments short, and more than 50% relapse. Depression and anxiety rates in the UK have risen by 60% since 2020, exacerbated by the pandemic and cost of living crisis (ONS, 2022). The level of need far outstrips the limited funding we get. We need your help to continue and amplify our offering.

What's the challenge and how can you help?

Short term: the squeeze on public sector funding and grants means that we can no longer viably continue to provide this life-saving service unless we raise £150,000 by 31 May 2024. We need immediate donations.

Long term: we need partners to support our core stability and rollout across the UK and beyond.

The big picture: we need to evolve from an organisation which for many years has lacked infrastructure, to one with core stability and capacity to scale.

Over £200 million has been raised from our crowd to support the projects they love! Plus tens of millions more unlocked by our partners.
