Savana provide emotional and practical support for survivors of sexual violence and abuse within the Stoke on Trent area. From individuals as young as 4 years old to adults, we offer a safe space and vital support for those who have experienced any form of sexual violence, whether recently or in the past, including rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, 'honour' related violence, and childhood sexual abuse.
At Savana, we're not just about providing help and support; we're dedicated to educating our community about sexual violence. We aim to raise awareness about the psychological, physical, and practical impacts faced by survivors, empowering them to navigate their healing journey.
Our journey began with a local pilot project focused on empowering women in Chell Heath, but as we listened to their stories of sexual abuse and violence, the need for a dedicated Rape Crisis service became evident. Thus, Savana was born. Since then, we've grown and evolved, continually striving to provide more efficient, responsive, and personalised services, all free of charge to the service user.
Today, Savana offers a range of crucial services, including face-to-face counseling, Independent Sexual Violence Advisor service (ISVA), specialised CPD accredited training, and youth support. Additionally, we actively promote self-help, self-care, and prevention strategies within our community.
