Sam started to play scrabble during covid and got really good at the game quite quickly - so much so that I investigated a local club we could join. In September 2022 we arrived at the Warrington club and received a very warm welcome from a large number of exceptionally good tournament players including a grand master and expert player (which we did not know at the time!). From that first evening Sam was hooked and through the support of the Warrington club he competed in his first tournament in April 2023. He has come on leaps and bounds and we have found a wonderful community in the scrabble world.
Sam is very keen to go to the World Youth Scrabble Championships, he has recently won his first A division title and came 16th in the National Scrabble Championship, so he has a good chance of winning. Quite a few people have mentioned wanting to support him to go - hence setting up this page.
Any money raised over the target amount will go towards setting up scrabble clubs in local schools in Liverpool, where we live, to try and encourage other young people to enjoy the game as much as Sam!
Thank you so much for all your support.
