Salford Green Party is a thriving local party. We are gaining new members daily, holding events more frequently than ever and we're challenging elections that we've never challenged before. But to do so, we really need your help!

In 2015 we stood candidates in all 20 wards of Salford, allowing more people to vote green in Salford than ever before! We aim to repeat that in 2016, and go one better, by standing a candidate for mayor!

Wendy Olsen is our prospective mayoral candidate. She has lived in Salford since 1981. She's American by birth, naturalised British and has travelled in India. She hopes to achieve three things as a Councillor and Mayor: improve the public spaces for better Communities in Salford; improve the cycle routes, pathways, and bus services in Salford; and regulate more landlords. She is a trade unionist. She champions human rights including the rights and needs of minorities.

Unlike other political parties, the Green Party receives no corporate backing, no union subscriptions and receives minimal donations from other sources, so we really need YOUR help!

How can you help?

Unlike council candidates, the candidate for mayor needs to pay a deposit of £500. This deposit will be refunded if they secure more than 5% of the vote (which we are confident we can achieve). Our first target is to secure a deposit, but there are other expenses we'd love your help with. Another £500 will secure our candidate a space on the mail-out which will go to all addresses in Salford. This will introduce her to every voter in the city, and raise the party's profile immensely. Beyond that, we would like to do as much promotion as possible in the run up to polling day. Or message is important, and it needs to be heard.

About our candidate

As well as standing for mayor, Wendy is also our council candidate for Irwell Riverside ward, SalfordThis ward in East Salford Community covers the River Irwell, Salford University, Duchy, Brindle Heath, Whit Lane, Langley Road, Acton Square, Bridgewater, and Blackfriars!
