Aim: To offer students from a diverse and disadvantage background into sailing a yacht, to build confidence, courage and teamwork.

I am Mr Tse, a curriculum lead in Engineering at the college. Nearly 50% of our students study our Engineering programme. Most of our students lived in the Lambeth area and have experienced some form of challenging upbringing. Our students are very diverse and we found over 60 spoken languages among our cohort.

Through extra curricular activities, I have introduced students to winning a job interview, badminton, financial investment, business enterprise and repairing computers. However, my most desire goal to this date is to introduce yacht sailing to our students.

I want our college to have a dedicated yacht lying in Dover. This enable a permanent weekend sailing programme in place and encourage students to visit less diverse towns and villages to experience the more calmer and sometimes more peaceful settings. I also want to get students out of their house to do things with nature, and less time on the social media or screen time.

I have found the yacht. It is a 70s Atlantic 38 power ketch yacht called 'Memories' who have been well maintained by her current owner and is lying in Brighton. It is on sale just under £20000. This boat is beautiful and you can read about the owner's diary on http://www.atlantic38.com/2012-2017.html or https://ebay.us/m/vLv53r.

I am sure your support will have a huge positive impact our young people and this unique ownership of a college yacht will promote integrity value and a greater sense of belonging among our students as well as staff. Moreover, our engineering students can have real projects to apply their engineering skills to improve the yacht.

Thank you for reading.
