Spellers Northwest Community Group provides support to families of non-speakers, unreliable speakers or minimal speakers who are learning letterboard communication method S2C Spell 2 Communicate. This is not a widely known technique that originates from the International Association of Spelling as Communication (i-ASC.org). We are using this technique with our own children (non-speakers with ASD) and have had great success with this method and wish to pass on the knowledge to other families in the community. We provide lesson books and letter boards and support to families to empower them to use this communication method at home with their loved one. We aim to run parent network and regulation workshops. Our vision is to create a community of non-speakers and provide summer camp, after school or on line collaboration opportunities to speak to their peers using letter boards in time.
