Aim: I am to raise £1,000 and bring awareness to the biodiversity loss in our country.
Michael will run 140km, three ultra-marathons in three days, along Hadrian's Wall, to raise £1,000 for Rewilding Britain and to bring awareness to the biodiversity loss in our country. The journey will start in Bowness-on-Solway on the 19th August 2025 and end in Wallend on the 21st August 2025. You can track the run via a GPS link, and see our route on Komoot.
70km into our journey we will arrive at the Sycamore Gap Tree, which was felled with malicious intent, for destruction and nothing more. We want to display the lack of biodiversity on a route that once thrived with life hundreds of years ago.
The UK has lost over 50% of it's biodiversity, which ranks the UK in the bottom 5% of countries in the world. As a country we can improve our connection to nature through rewilding, which is the act of giving land back to nature to restore itself. We can reverse the damage from the climate crisis through carbon capture and become inspired to do more to protect the natural world if we had more connection to it. 83% of people said they would make a difference to their lifestyle after building a connection with nature. I am being accompanied by Hannah Cox, who will also be running the route in support of the upcoming expedition, Project Salt Run.
Thanks to Tenzing Energy for sponsoring the project so we have what we need to make this possible.
