THE SQUIRES EFFECT
The Squires Effect, aim to inspire others to fundraise for charities by encouraging people to share their experiences. It brings charities and fundraisers together to “carry on the legacy of a truly remarkable person”.
The charity was set up in memory of Claire Squires, a family friend who passed away just a mile from the finish in The London Marathon in 2012. In the days following her death members of the public pledged over £1m on her JustGiving page for the Samaritans. The platform also waived its usual charges, ensuring the full legacy of support was felt by the charity. The following year, 14 of Claire’s friends and family competed in the event, that she was unable to finish and in 7 weeks time, I am going to run the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon again.
The charity still provides for the relief of sickness and preservation of health of people living in England, plus the relief of financial hardship, either individually or generally, of people living in England. Grants are made to both individuals and other charities that meet the criteria. I am raising money for a charitable cause that is very important to me so please donate and help me reach my target in aid of The Squires Effect. Anything you can contribute towards helping me achieve my target will be massively appreciated.
