Running Lands End to John O’Groats raising funds with a minimal amount towards volunteer support costs and the remainder going to charities

by Liam Butler in Bassingbourn, England, United Kingdom

Hi, my name’s Liam Butler.

This year, my fellow running club member Grant Chapman and I plan to complete the epic adventure that is LEJOG (Land’s End to John O’Groats). As runners, we will of course be travelling on foot, and have chosen to eschew the shorter ‘easy’ option of the direct route, exchanging busy roads for some of the finest scenery England and Scotland has to offer (the South West Coastal Path, Bodmin Moor & Dartmoor, Cannock Chase, Pennine Way and the Great Glen Way, Loch Ness . . . the list is endless).

The plan is to run from Saturday 24th July to Monday 23rd August, using the route HERE

The enormity of the endeavour is not lost on us and presents a number of logistical challenges, the greatest of which is the need for a volunteer support team during the attempt and so we are appealing for support from anyone who likes a challenge and feels they would enjoy and benefit from becoming part of the journey.

The main support task would be transporting all the requisite kit and supplies from one location to the next as we complete each daily stage, as well as providing a safety net as an emergency contact and liaison in case of difficulty.

I have a route guide including a breakdown of each section and the dates we intend to run them, so those who are interested to take part can see which section most appeals to them, please message me and I’ll email it to you

If this tempts you and you’d like to play a part, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.

Yours sincerely

Liam & Grant
