Vivien runs for Edulife Trust Fund

I have been a trustee for Edulife Trust Fund for a few years and after I started running at the beginning of the year to improve health and fitness I decided it might be a good idea if someone else could benefit from my running at the same time. So here I am all signed up for the Accra International Marathon on 29th October 2023 (one day before my birthday) to run in support of Edulife. I am hoping to raise enough funds to keep at least 5 children in school next year and beyond. We will meet directly with the schools to establish who is in need of extra funds for school fees, uniforms textbooks, or exam fees.

I am passionate about raising funds for children to stay in education because I have been to Ghana! I have spoken to children, and I have heard their dreams and ambitions. Children in Ghana are just as passionate about their future as our children. They want to shape their own future and become teachers, astronauts, nurses, lawyers, builders, dentists, shopkeepers, scientists, and so on. Unfortunately, too often they will have no choice but stay at home and help their families or earn a living instead of going to school and learning how to count, read and write. Without basic education, they might not be able to reach their goals, because they are not as privileged as our children who enjoy free education. When I went to Ghana I realised how lucky my children and myself are to be born in countries where we don't even think twice about the opportunities that open up to us just by being able to go to school.

The children of this world are our hope and our future. Let's help them reach their full potential. Funds will be used to pay for school fees, text books, exam fees, school uniforms, school lunches.

Any contribution is greatly appreciated! All funds raised are going to Edulife Trust Fund (www.edulife.org.uk) which is in close contact with schools that have children who need support.
