1/3 of the way through!
Today marks Day 10 of my run 5k every day in December fundraising challenge! I am so grateful to everyone who has donated and it will be massively appreciated by the Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind.
Anything you can do to spread the word and raise as much money as possible would be amazing!
Appreciate you all cheering me on 🩷
Hi everyone.
For every day in December, I will be running 5k (yes, even Christmas Day!) to raise money and awareness for Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind - a charity very close to mine and my families heart.
This is definitely going to be a challenge through cold and rainy mornings & throughout the Christmas silly season but it is for such a worthy cause and I am up for the challenge!
Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind is an independent, local charity dedicated to support blind and partially sighted people, their carers and families who reside in Huntingdonshire. You can find out more here: http://www.huntsblind.co.uk/
For those of you who don’t know, my Grandad was registered blind from a young age.
My Grandad was a bubbly, chatty person & being social was a very important part of his life. Being a member of Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind allowed him to be the social butterfly he was & to experience things he otherwise may not have. He had a great group of friends at the club who he could relate to & this brought a huge amount of enjoyment to his life.
Hunts Society for the Blind run social clubs bringing those in the community together. They had ‘Elvis’ come to visit, Christmas trips to Eastbourne, played lots of card games and so much more. Although they were primarily for Grandad, my Grandma also attended as his carer and so she also benefited hugely from the social interaction & friendship.
The charity have amazing volunteers who support with driving members to and from clubs, events & more which allowed my Grandma and Grandad to attend clubs.
For those reasons, I am fundraising for the charity to give back for the huge impact they made on my grandparents lives when they were with us. My grandparents passed away in 2019. December is one of the hardest times of the year being without them & I will be thinking of them even more when running each day.
If you can give anything at all, no matter how small, I will be hugely grateful.
I will post updates on here to keep you all up to date with my progress!
