ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS KENT, ASHFORD, TENTERDEN AND DISTRICT BRANCH

RCN 208111, Ashford

RSPCA Kent, Ashford, Tenterden & District Branch is an independently registered charity, separately funded from the main RSPCA. We work hard to deliver vital animal welfare services locally for all types of animal. We also rescue, rehabilitate and rehome up to 300 cats a year at the Ashford Garden Cattery. The Cattery is in the middle of the town which enables people to access our services easily. The Branch has set up a well used foodbank for all animals enabling their owners to keep their pets where they should be - with them. Help with neutering costs can also be provided. The Branch being entirely self-funded relies on donations from our supporters to enable us to continue our work in the Community. Every penny goes directly into helping animals within local area as well as helping other Branches rehome their cats.

ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS KENT, ASHFORD, TENTERDEN AND DISTRICT BRANCH

RSPCA : Ashford, Tenterden and District Branch covers a large part of Kent from Dungeness on the coast to the village of Chilham in the North of the District. Our aim is to help all animals in our region. We have run a successful rehoming cattery in Ashford since 2006 homing cats across the country not just in our region but from Manchester to Hampshire and all points in between. We are located in the centre of the town ensuring that our services are accessible to all.

Our current building was open in 1964 (60 years yung this year!)originally as a low cost Vet Clinic but has found a new lease of life as a rehoming Cattery. We rehome over 300 cats a year , thats 300 cats giving pleasure to their new owners as well as the cats having safe , loving and secure environments to live. The Branch is run by a volunteer Trustee board supported by a small number of employees and a large number of willing volunteers. As we have no Government support we have to rely on the public to fund our activities.

We work with the RSPCA Inspectors to help rehabilitate and rehome cats that have been abused and neglected as well as taking some from the public when their owners have died , gone into a nursing home or have had to give their animals up for various reasons.

We recently set up a well used pet food bank providing help so people have some help not to give up their beloved pets. We also provide as much help with neutering costs and make contributions to Vet bills where we can.

We also run a successful Charity shop which is entirely run by a dedicated band of volunteers providing good quality clothes and other items at affordable prices.

Our fundraising volunteers work hard to raise funds, increase awareness of the Charity and on animal welfare issues. Running our own Cattery and having an older building mean costs are high, the main one being Vet bills.
