Ross High RFC, based in Tranent, was established in 1970 by former pupils of Ross High School eager to create a rugby club. The school's headmaster, Bill Monteith, served as the first president, laying the foundation for the club’s enduring legacy. Among its most influential figures, Scott Glynn, the longest-serving president, was recognized with an MBE for his charitable contributions before his passing on January 1, 2020.
The club’s journey is documented in the book Mon the Ross, which captures its evolution, challenges, and triumphs. A strong bond with Markham RFC in Wales has been a defining aspect of Ross High RFC, with annual friendly matches dating back to 1972. More than just a rugby team, the club serves as a vital community hub, offering touch rugby sessions, social gatherings, and various local initiatives that foster camaraderie and pride. With the dedication of past players and coaches, Ross High RFC continues to grow and thrive, building on its rich history.

Funds will raise awareness and encourage new members and players of all ages to the club and use it's facilities. The club will use funds to provide strips and equipment for the younger mini teams right up to the first team. Our changing rooms need updating to provide a more comfortable place for the players to get ready for games. We rely on volunteers to help out, but funds will provide materials and professionals to complete the extra works for us. as a community club, we are providing a safe environment for all ages to be in the club.
If you're applying for extra funding, this is a good place to demonstrate why your project is eligible so refer back to the criteria to help complete this section
Our club facilities and changing rooms need an overhaul and updated so that both home and away teams feel comfortable place to be ready pre and post match. The mini youth section needs funds to encourage the next generation of first team players through our development pathway. Over the last few years we have taken part in fundraising events and passed this money to other good causes, so It is time to concentrate on ourselves and the future of the club with the help of our fundraising page.

The club is used for meetings, party nights and community gatherings for various other clubs that don't have the space to do so. The social element of the club is important to us and over the last few years we have seen a social decline so moneys have reduced. We really encourage our community to gather when they can in the club as this is important for a town like Tranent.
