Roko 20 Academy sponsors children to a primary school education in rural Kenya providing food, uniform, books and basic healthcare

Project by ROKO 20

Roko 20 is a UK registered charity (No: 1161826) set up to help fund Roko 20 Academy, a primary school providing children with a free primary school education through sponsorship. Situated in rural Kenya it has been in operation since 2014.

All our pupils are from poor backgrounds where their basic human needs are often neglected.

To raise money for this great charity, on 7th June a group of us will be taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge.  Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, three of the highest and most iconic mountains in the UK and we aim to do this in just 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and total ascent is 3,064 metres (10,052ft). Driving distance between peaks is 462 miles.

Please donate and help us to reach our target in aid of ROKO 20. Anything you can contribute towards helping us achieve our target will be massively appreciated. For more information about the charity go to

Education is supposed to be free in Kenya but in reality that's not the case.  In our community many families are living in poverty and unable to afford school fees.

Children are excluded from school missing valuable primary level foundation learning.  Once they fall behind they rarely catch up and many children leave school unable to read and write, so the cycle of poverty continues.

Roko 20 Academy was set up by Tracey Neale-Ferreira from Pembrokeshire and Job Thuo Macharia, a Kenyan citizen, to provide children from disadvantaged backgrounds with a free education.

Roko 20 Academy has 2 pre-primary classes and 6 primary classes ranging from Grade 1 through to 6.  The school population has 107 pupils and out of that number 70 children are sponsored to an education.

We’re raising money to help with the following:

•    the school’s feeding programme which will provide each child with a balanced diet of breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch and for some a small dinner before going home

•    sponsoring 37 more pupils to a primary school education and provide junior and secondary school scholarships for 41 pupils

•    uniforms, text and exercise books and school supplies

This will ensure the school continues to grow and improve.

Please join Roko 20 by supporting us however you can. Spread the word and tell your friends.

Thank you!
