170 years ago this year, a group from around Birdwell near Barnsley banded together to form the first incarnation of the Rockingham Brass Band. Today, we are one of the oldest bands still active in the country. This year was meant to be a celebration of all of our achievements since 1850, overcoming pit closures, times of strife and the near collapse of the band nearly 5 years ago. We rose out of the ashes, from a 4th Section band with only 8 players to placing 5th in the 2nd Section. We now have 30 strong regular players and this is down to the extensive efforts of the band members who put in all their energy and love into fighting to keep us thriving and successful. 

 Sadly this year, like so many bands and clubs out there, the arrival of the Coronavirus put a stop to the months of planning and fundraising. The income usually received from public performance could not be obtained and we were forced to rely on reserve funds to keep up with basic expenses.

    Now we really need your help so that we can continue to provide a service to the community and general public through donations made by you. Our members all love the band and despite the financial pressures this year, still continue to pay subscriptions in support. It has become an extension of their families, and the friendships made have lasted down the years.

  Your donations will cover the rental of a larger, covid-safe venue, PPE and the equipment we need to keep the band safe, supported, and strong during these unprecedented times.
