What We Do Now at Biker Rebuild CIC
Biker Rebuild CIC is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering biker ex-offenders to create sustainable, self-directed change and successfully navigate life outside the prison system. Currently, we support our community through our website, an online resource hub, and weekly emails.
As a newly registered CIC, we operate with limited resources and no local government funding. This restricts how much we can do and how quickly we can launch our planned services. However, we’re determined to grow, and one of our key goals is to hire ex-offenders for suitable roles as our team expands.
What Makes Our Service Different?
At Biker Rebuild CIC, we believe in the power of individuality. Many organizations focus on stopping reoffending through reintegration or resettlement, but we understand that everyone’s journey is unique. We don’t stop at the life society thinks you should have; we aim for the life you dream of.
Our starting point is always: “What do you want to achieve?” You set the agenda, and we support you in achieving your best life.
If you take a second chance, you might as well make it count.
All our services reflect this belief. By helping you build a life you’re passionate about, we aim to break the cycle of reoffending—not out of necessity, but because your new life is worth fighting for.
Why Biker Ex-Offenders?
We’re often asked, “Why focus specifically on biker ex-offenders?” If we had a pound for every time we heard this, we wouldn’t need to crowdfund!
Bikers face unique challenges. Media stereotypes portray them either as reckless thrill-seekers or as members of criminal organizations. These stigmas, combined with the broader challenges ex-offenders face, create barriers to rebuilding their lives.
Biker Rebuild CIC is the only UK-based organization exclusively supporting biker ex-offenders. Our founder’s deep connection to the biker community informs everything we do, ensuring our services are tailored to the realities and responsibilities bikers face.
We believe in leveling the playing field because we love and respect the biker community for its diversity, freedom, and resilience.
What We Can Do With Your Support?
With your support, we aim to launch the following projects:
Helpline: A listening ear and lifeline for the critical first 48 hours post-release.
Digital Skills & Online Courses: Training programs, including entrepreneurship courses, to help rebuild work lives and mental health.
Online Intensive Support Program: Weekly mentoring sessions and tools like ChatGPT models for business planning, CV creation, and housing support letters.
Podcast – Rise, Rebuild, and Ride Again: A resource bikers can access anytime for motivation and advice.
These services are designed to:
Reduce reoffending.
Create stable, self-responsible individuals who can live the lives they dream of.
Foster community and inspiration.
Help participants recognize and address early signs of reoffending, offering support when it’s needed most.
Our Intensive Support Service
Our Intensive Support Service matches clients with a support worker and a professional in their area of greatest difficulty. Over six weeks, clients receive one-hour weekly sessions focused on problem-solving and action planning.
We’re also developing an online version of this program to make it more accessible. This version will include tools like ChatGPT to assist with tasks such as creating business plans, CVs, and official documents.
Why This Cause Matters
The transition from prison to the outside world is often overwhelming, particularly for those released without adequate preparation or resources. Many ex-offenders receive just £76 upon release—barely enough for a few days of basic living expenses.
This lack of support often leads to poor decision-making and increases the risk of reoffending. Statistics show nearly 50% of adults re-offend within a year of release, with rates even higher for younger offenders and those serving shorter sentences.
At Biker Rebuild CIC, we address these challenges head-on. By providing tailored support, practical solutions, and a sense of community, we empower biker ex-offenders to regain control of their lives and build a future they can be proud of.
A Word from Our Founder – Belinda Sharland
Thank you for reading this far.
Prison is a black-and-white world where survival often takes precedence over personal growth. When individuals transition to the outside world, they face overwhelming choices and insufficient resources. This lack of preparation leaves many vulnerable to reoffending.
At Biker Rebuild CIC, we’re not just another reform organization. We reimagine the journey. Inspired by the biker spirit—freedom, individuality, and resilience—we offer personalized, client-led support that respects the unique challenges bikers face after incarceration.
Our mission is ambitious, but it’s vital. This is about more than reducing reoffending; it’s about rewriting stories and reclaiming freedom. Together, we can transform lives and communities, one biker at a time.
As someone who’s grown up in the biker community and married an ex-offender, I’ve seen the struggles up close. While I don’t claim to have all the answers, I know Biker Rebuild has a piece of the solution. But I can’t do it alone.
Your help is a blessing.
