Rhodes Avenue Primary School Association
RAPSA plays an important role at Rhodes Avenue Primary School raising funds to buy equipment and support initiatives that aren’t funded by our local authority. This year, we are raising funds to create a sensory room for specific learning needs and to Astroturf the back playground, making it a better play area for the children

We are very proud of our school and the place it has in the community. There are two areas of the school that would really benefit from your help and are in desperate need of renovation and reimagination. We are asking you to help us to transform one of the outdoor pods into a sensory learning room and to upgrade the back playground, astroturfing the cage area. We have a combined target of £30,000 and are appealing, again, to those of you who can help and will also fundraise through sponsored events in the school.
In 2018 we invested in outdoor Pods creating additional quiet learning spaces, located away from the classrooms and main teaching areas. One of our long term goals has always been to transform one of these into sensory room.
Following the pandemic we have more children with a greater need for support with their emotional well-being, without access to specialist care. A sensory room will create a calm and safe environment to optimise learning and participation in the school environment for those who need it. It will provide us with place for both groups and individuals go as a bridging gap until their long term learning and emotional needs can be assessed.
The other area of the school that we would like to invest this year is the back caged playground. Every year this is one of the requests that comes from the children via the elected School Council. We know the importance that quality outdoor play, in a safe environment, has for children both in terms of health and social wellbeing. In addition, if properly equipped as an lit Astroturfed area we would be able to generate additional funds for the school through evening and weekend lettings.
We really appreciate anything that you can do to help us make our school even better for all of our students.
