EFAI aims to address the critical need for quality STEM education in Nigeria by providing Ten schools with access to scientific equipment

Education for All Initiative (EFAI) is committed to promoting quality education in Africa and addressing the global e-waste challenge. By repurposing and donating surplus and underutilized scientific equipment, we strive to provide African students with the necessary resources to succeed academically and professionally, all while mitigating the environmental impact of electronic waste. EFAI believes that by aligning quality education with responsible consumption and climate action, African students can reach their full potential and contribute to the sustainable development of the continent.

The project's main activities include sourcing donated scientific equipment and electrical items from universities, corporate entities, and industries abroad. These items are then redistributed to underprivileged schools in Nigeria. Additionally, the initiative offers training sessions to teachers and students on the effective use of the equipment. By doing so, the project enhances STEM education, addresses the issue of electronic waste, and promotes sustainable consumption practices.

Education for All Initiative C.IC. will approach universities, corporate organizations, and industries and seek donations of their unused or underutilized scientific equipment and electrical items already booked for disposal and are no longer in use or have been replaced with new ones to be donated to EFAI. The donor universities and organizations will follow their disposal policies and procedures to ensure alignment with EFAI's mission. Schools in need will be able to apply for this equipment through EFAI's website, with a robust application process that includes answering essential questions to demonstrate genuine need and a plan for the equipment's effective use.

EFAI plans to engage solution organizations like SAP, Adobe and Microsoft to donate software solutions, which can then be installed on the computers acquired from various organizations. A committee of independent reviewers, comprised of researchers, scientists, and administrators including a representative of the donors across major institutions, will be responsible for selecting the winning schools based on need and merit.

Once received by the universities and secondary schools in Nigeria, both teachers and students will receive physical or virtual training, either by the donor institution or local agencies, to ensure effective utilization of the donated equipment. The goal is to help recipients set up quality and standard science and computer laboratories. Continuous research, monitoring, and evaluation will be conducted by EFAI to track the impact of the donated equipment on student learning outcomes, performance in examinations, and e-waste reduction (aligned with SDGs 4 and 13).
