Penny's journey to us is one of heartbreak and resilience. This sweet girl was brought into RSPCA Doncaster’s care as part of a cruelty case investigation. She had already faced more hardship in her short life than any animal should ever endure. When Penny was rescued, several animals were removed from a property under horrifying conditions, and tragically, one animal was found deceased. Penny, though scared and fragile, showed nothing but love and trust towards her rescuers.
At just 8 months old, Penny was diagnosed with a serious heart condition called severe pulmonic stenosis. This condition affects the flow of blood from her heart to her lungs and, without treatment, could significantly shorten her life. Now 11 months old, Penny’s symptoms are being managed through restricted exercise, but all she wants to do is play like any other puppy.
Penny’s previous owner was unwilling to pay for the surgery she desperately needed while the investigation was ongoing and has since signed her over into RSPCA care. Now, we have the opportunity to raise funds and give Penny the second chance she so deserves.
The good news is that there is hope. A specialised procedure called a ‘Balloon Valvuloplasty’ can help Penny live a full and happy life. With this surgery, Penny's heart can function properly, allowing her to run, play, and enjoy the life every puppy deserves. However, this life-saving procedure comes with a cost—£4,100. For an RSPCA branch such as ourselves, covering such an amount for one animal is a daunting challenge, but we believe Penny's life is worth it.
Despite everything she's been through, Penny remains as sweet and affectionate as ever. She’s friendly, trusting, and so deserving of a chance to live a normal life. We can’t let her down. This is where we need your help.
