Please help ‘Scotland in Europe’ to raise funds to bring musicians & writers as cultural ambassadors to the, Festival Ecossais 1782, in France in 2023.
Through the medium of arts & culture, SIE and EFS, want to tell Scotland’s story in current and exciting ways to win hearts and change minds of both European politicians and the general public.
Scotland In Europe (SIE), a grassroots Arts & Cultural Organisation based in Glasgow, has been fostering ties through cross-border arts & cultural projects between Scotland and other European countries, since the early ’90s. We have been invited by Europe for Scotland (EFS) to bring Scottish musicians and poets as cultural ambassadors to the Festival écossais in St Andiol, France in July 2023.
While the Festival écossais reflects many Scottish traditions, SIE’s collaboration with EFS, provides both an opportunity to represent a broader range of music and culture found in Scotland today and, following the negativity and divisions sewn by Brexit, build on the ‘Auld Alliance’ to reforge modern bonds with our European neighbour.
Scotland, being involuntarily separated from the EU, is no longer eligible to access the European sources of arts and cultural funding we once could. So, we now turn to you our fellow Scots, to ask for your support to allow Scottish artists to attend the Festival écossais where we intend to give it our all, to show new audiences more of what modern Scotland has to offer. Please give whatever you can. Every penny will be very much appreciated.
More About Who We 2 Collaborators Are
Scotland in Europe is a not-for-profit, grassroots organisation, utilising the arts and culture to engage with and contribute to regenerating communities within Scotland as well as to strengthening our cultural bonds with our European family. Having been established since the 90s, it was a bitter blow for us, as it was for the people of Scotland, who did not vote for Brexit, to be forced to leave the European Union. As a result people across Scotland are experiencing the impact of Brexit as a significant loss and lessening of access and opportunity in every area of our lives. Adhering to the mission that saw the birth of SIE we are now more committed than ever to building partnerships and new alliances in Europe, strengthening ‘cultural detente’ has become more vital than ever.

Europe for Scotland (established in 2021) is a pan-European civil society initiative that brings together citizens from across Europe who want to express solidarity with Scotland post-Brexit and are united in their conviction that Scotland should be welcomed back in the EU. We are a grassroots campaign and unaffiliated with any political party or institution. EFS believes that the substance and manner of Scotland’s involuntary departure from the EU marks a democratic injustice. https://europeforscotland.com/
