Aim: To replace the faulty windows at our hostel, by doing so we aim to continue providing a safe, warm and welcoming space for our guests.
At Shining Cliff Centre CIC, we are a small, dedicated team passionate about providing a unique and peaceful retreat in the heart of nature. Nestled in the woods, our hostel is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place to reconnect with the outdoors, unwind, and build community. Our vision is to preserve the spirit of an eco-friendly adventure while making the hostel a safe, welcoming, and comfortable haven for walkers, families, travellers, and nature lovers to name a few.
Unfortunately we have had a number of windows become damaged over time, this has become a safety concern and fixing them is essential, but a huge cost to the hostel that we may not be able to cover.
The video mentions that we are replacing 6 windows, but Kate forgot to include the porch window that got broken, so in total, we are replacing 7 windows which is costing £4859.
We have a pledge from the landowner, the charity Grith Pioneers, to help with some of the cost, but we would love to secure more funding to help us; as this year we have been impacted financially by lost bookings and increased maintenance costs after our insurer decided they will no longer cover our fire pits.
Kyla is going to walk 20 miles from Ambergate to the end of the High Peak Trail on Sunday 25th May and Kate has volunteered to give up cake, biscuits and ice cream for 6 weeks to help raise funds to fix the windows - both are an equal challenge! ;)
