Replace Their Memories
Not one day goes by without seeing gruesome images of the war in Ukraine. The atrocities that take place are unimaginable. Needless to say, the war has a devastating impact on the 7.5 million children living in Ukraine. Leaving them with deep visible and invisible scars. This fundraising project is for them.
Summer camps for special needs children from Ukraine
The 'Replace Their Memories Project' aims to offer Ukrainian children new and happier memories by organising - and funding - fun summer camps in Poland. A place where children can be children again.
Project 'Replace Their Memories' is run by a private team of women that live in the UK, with Dorota Zielonka as their front runner.
Charity organisation is recipient of funding
The recipient of the funding is the charity organisation "The Ukrainian Union of Invalids" with which Dorota was already involved before the start of the war. This charity is run by Oksana Potimko who is also its founder. With so many children in total distress, the organisation expressed an urgent need for extra financial support. That is why we started this fundraising project.
The project serves three target groups of children:
- Ukrainian children that are already relocated to Poland
- Ukrainian children that are about to be relocated
- and children who are located in Ukraine
Each group has specific needs depending on their location. On top of that many children are dealing with severe visual impairments or other disabilities.
Our team has identified and negotiated 4 locations in Poland where the camps can take place. Depending on the funding collected through this campaign we will be able to offer the children the chance to break away from the war-zone for a week or two. Depending on how long the situation lasts, organising Winter camps is also a possibility.
Constant care needed
Kids with severe visual impairments or other disabilities require constant care. Every child requires a guardian to be able to go to the camp and enjoy some time off. Special rehabilitation is required as well which needs to be made available along with transportation by dedicated drivers and trained personnel, to allow smooth functioning of the camp from start to finish.
Thank you for taking the time to read this information. We hope that together we can make a difference in the lives of many Ukrainian special needs children that have been through so much.
Thank you deeply for your generous donation!
