I'm Sam, I grew up in Hostels for the homeless and bouncing around rental properties but i was fortunate i grew up in the late 90's early 2000's and got the tail end of the "fix it if it can be fixed" generation as well as the welcoming generation, in my opinion.
I got taught by neighbours, by the mechanics at our local garage, by books as well as TV Shows, what tools were and how to use them. Did it mean I was inheritenly good with my hands, definitely not. Did it mean I made mistakes, yes a whole host of them but I also learnt how to fix them, from a very young age I was working with tools whether it be in farming, wood working, metal working, plastering or tiling I got the opportunity to try it. I worked and worked until I figured out what i wanted to do with my life and with that I became an Unlicense Aircraft Engineer, working on everything from single engined Pistons to Multi Million Dollar Business Jets, I learnt that qualifications whilst meaningful in some fields do not mean everything but yet in my local area, there is little facilities to nurture the poeple who want to carry this out, instead it is all about liability and risk.
With this Investment I'm looking at setting up a workshop which will allow me to set up a Machine shop and Vehicle Maintenance Are including a Vehicle Lift and compressor. With guidance and Assistance on support from myself and some other volunteers.
Whilst that will be the easy part myself and a previous colleague of mine who specialises in aviation Quality and Safety management are going to look through all the processes to make sure that it is as safe as reasonably practicable to reduce the risk to us, members of the public and our customers.
Initital Funding is for the purchase of a commercial property that is already had decades of Motor Heritage built into it.
Whilst the aim is to help new generations come into this industry and enjoy working with their hands it will also be welcome to seasoned veterans who just have an idea but can't afford to get a minimum quantity manufactured to justify the cost to some machine shop.
Thank you
Sam
