Aim: We need to raise funds to pay for planning and heritage reports to support the 648 community objections submitted to Lewisham Council

On Friday 28 March 2025, a planning application for a major development of the Blackheath Station Car Park was submitted by Acorn Property Group. This proposal will have a huge impact on Blackheath life:

  • Harm to the Blackheath Conservation Area
  • Loss of residential amenity and school safeguarding
  • Potential loss of the farmers' market
  • Loss of essential public parking
  • Construction traffic and disruption
  • Strain on local services

After a hugely successful campaign, a total of 648 objections were submitted to Lewisham Council.

We are raising funds so we can commission a planning and a heritage report to support and provide further evidence for the objections submitted by the local community. These reports will be submitted to the planning officer and councillors at Lewisham.

Your support is vital to this next step towards saving Blackheath Village from this cynical development.

The cost for the planning report by DCC Town Planning is £1,500 + VAT so a total of £1,800. This has already been written (but not paid for!) and can be seen on Reject Blackheath Station

The heritage statement (by Heritage Unlimited) has not yet been written. We can still submit this to the council but time is running out. The cost for this is £2,600 + VAT + £40 train fare for the site visit, so a total of £3,160. In their initial read of the application, they have noticed a number of shortcoming and due diligence failures on behalf of the developer so we feel this is going to be a critical report.

An additional goal is to get David Cranmer from DCC Planning to attend a meeting with the council. The cost for this would be £850 + VAT so a total of £1,020.

This puts the overall total at £5,980. Please help us help our community!
