We're providing much needed support with dignity to Ukrainians fleeing the conflict

On the 31st May 2022 we'd raised £600 with 5 supporters in 74 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Our small delegation from our highly experienced team at Refugee Support arrived at the Moldavian/Romanian border with Ukraine to provide emergency aid to people fleeing their homes.
[our founder, Paul and our amazing team]
Moldova is a poor country and up to yesterday had received 120,000 refugees from Ukraine. Moldova has traditionally imported the majority of their food from Ukraine this is now starting to result in food shortages and a high increase in prices so it is important we also support the locals that are hosting refugees. We are looking at importing food for our operation from Romania as well as sourcing food via local networks.
That means distributing food through our ‘Dignity Market’. It is a way of giving people food for free but in a shop environment. That means that people can choose what they want, have a bit of normality and be treated as individuals. It give us a chance to say they are not alone and that people care.
Almost all Ukrainians in Moldova are women and children. And the majority of them are staying in the homes of Moldovan people who have thrown open their doors to welcome them. They also need our support.
Every week, our shop will be serving at least 1,000 women and children who are living with Moldovan families.
Every pound you can give will make a huge difference, and will go directly to providing emergency food and aid to those who have made the arduous, emotional and dangerous journey.
Longer term we are also working with the local Moldovan authorities to set up a food and hygiene distribution centre, to sit alongside our Dignity Market, enabling us to help even more people as this crisis worsens.
And as a thank you for your support, for a donation of just £30 you will receive a copy of the beautifully illustrated Tastes & Tales recipe book containing recipes from refugees from all over the world:
