Acheinu Cancer Support (ACS) is holding the “Refresh Revive Respite”. This is a FREE, Mental-health healing weekend for 90 Jewish adults facing severe financial crisis and mental health issues as a result of their or their spouse/child’s cancer diagnosis. This project is the only weekend away for Jewish adults facing cancer and is detrimental for the users. It has proven a massive success in boosting the well-being of all the participants. The Respite takes place over a 3-day weekend at an exclusively booked spa hotel with gardens & swimming pool, in a rural location. This will be held Friday, 21/02/2025 - Sunday, 23/02/2025 at the Park Hall Hotel & Spa Park Drive Wolverhampton.
Users are pampered with complimentary therapy, music & massages. A chef provides a variety of healthy & delicious meals prepared on individual preferences & liaised by a dietitian. These few days away in a rural setting with the right menus, rich programs, and full sanitary standards, give a new life to the patients who have been stripped financially and physically. They relax together in a tranquil setting, away from the stress & worry, giving them renewed energy - So that they can begin to live again- So that they can be well enough to take the next dose of treatment on to their recovery- So that they can return refreshed both mentally and physically. This is vital to the recovery of the patient and gives those receiving treatment the strength they need to continue and gain the benefit of the therapy to heal the illness. As you are aware the Chemotherapy needed for cancer treatment exhausts the patient and removes the strength from the patient as it hopefully destroys the deadly cancerous cell. For the patient to recover and continue the next step of the treatment, the patient must regain stability and feel relaxed with vigour. Many times, may it never happen to us, the ill patient is a parent of a family of children, and they suffer tremendously as the home begins to fall apart. The well parent is suddenly overtaken to look after the ill patient whilst their own needs are left by the wayside. It is a worrying time and often the needs of the healthy parent are ignored due to the overwhelming medical research and time needed to begin and go through the treatment. They need a break-away as much as the ill parent does, to be able to continue caring and living. When cancer strikes a child, the young patient can cause severe distress to the parents who feel lost due to their energy and time given to the ill child. These adults need time to spend together in a relaxed setting, with all their needs taken care of. We aim to alleviate these families as much as we possibly can. It gives opportunity to connect to themselves and share closely related challenges with others in the same boat.
