Performed first at Roehampton University, and rewritten especially for the OSO Arts Centre, Redwater is a Lovecraftian horror theatre performance and an attempt to bring fear of the unknown to the stage. It follows the psychological and existential narrative of seventeen-year-old Eliza Cook, sent away to the titular coastal town of Redwater during World War Two.
In an unfamiliar environment with distant relatives that are strangers to her, Eliza’s paranoia reaches a terrifying new height when she is convinced someone (or perhaps, something) was in her room late one night - but with a story so impossible, she can only hope that those around her will not think her mad as she struggles for answers. Answers aren’t always what we need, however, and as Eliza dives deeper down the rabbit hole, she soon learns just how much harder it is to climb back out.
We aim to incorporate experimental theater techniques in order to captivate, shock and disturb our audience and to successfully bring Lovecraftian horror to a rarely-used medium in the genre: the stage!
Donations to our project can not only help us achieve this dream, but also help us potentially expand our initial scope and better bring our story to life.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and we hope we can count on your donation!
