Families were not fully informed of the risks involved in taking this medication in pregnancy. Our project supports women and their families through peer support groups, access to advice and sharing experiences. We work to raise awareness and influence policy. We work in partnership with other charities, academics and medical organisations. The group was established in 2009 when our case against Sanofi, the makers of the drug, lost legal aid funding. This work has mainly been done by women and is unpaid and informal. We hope to use any income to establish a fully functioning organisation that can both raise awareness of the issues and support families whilst they wait for the long overdue redress they deserve. Looking to the future we want to see a world where teratogenic harm is identified and addressed and all women are given appropriate pre-pregnancy planning regardless of their medical condition.
